Our Story
I am Julia Schulz, and together with my Husband Todd, we founded our Kennel Graysong Weimaraners. We love and respect this magnificent breed & our goal & dream is to make a positive & lasting contribution to it's future!
I grew up on a small Wisconsin farm training, showing & breeding fine Appaloosa show horses always with a Weimaraner at my side. Our Kennel name comes from one of my favorite childhood memories of sitting in our old silo, guitar in-hand, writing music with my beloved Weim (Blitz) singing beside me “in Harmony”!
When Todd & I met, we knew it was a match made in Heaven! We both share a deep love for nature and all God's creatures. Todd was an avid hunter & fisherman always with his dog at his side & I also loved hunting, fishing & trap shooting . When we purchased our first dog together, Todd insisted on a hunting breed so naturally it had to be a Weimaraner! (Heidi), was to be our companion & Todd’s personal gun dog. I decided it might be fun to get “Back in the ring” and after my first show, I was hooked! So began our quest to find the dog who would change our lives forever!!
After a year of study & research, I became intrigued with a young stud dog I thought had “Great Potential”. He was CH. Nani’s Indecent Exposure (Streak) who was to become a National Specialty Winner, Top Ten Show Dog & Top Producing Sire. Todd trusted my “Eye For A Dog” since I had always seemed to possess the gift with my horses. We contacted Chris Grissel, Nani’s Weimaraners about any up coming litters sired by him. Chris was very excited about (Steak's) repeat breeding to CH. Nani’s Jagmar Sweet Dividends (Diva) who had multiple Agility, Hunt, & Obedience titles and who was to become 2005’s Top Producing Dam.
Chris invited us to meet with her and Terrie Borman in Dekalb, Illinois where Bounder & Sage, (pup's from Streak's & Diva's first litter), were making their show debuts at 6 months of age. CH. Nani’s Tsurutani Honor Bound (Bounder) was to become a Top Ten Show Dog and a two time "Best of Opposite Sex" winner at our National Specialty as well as a "Best In Show Winner". Sage would also become a multi titled Champion. We were so impressed, that we brought (Jack), {a puppy from the repeat breeding} home eight weeks later. He was to be our first Champion Nani’s Graysong Jackpot, JH. We will forever be indebted to Chris & Terrie for the opportunity to own and love our beautiful (Jack). We thank them both for their support & guidance.
We next purchased Shiloh's Graysong Whirlwind (Grace) from Gail Ault, Shiloh Weimaraners. (Grace) is a daughter of CH. Silhouette’s Wise Guy (Mike) out of CH. Smoky City Expectation (Shiloh)They went Best Dog & Best Bitch at the 2001 Central Futurity.
Our new found Friendship with Shiloh’s owners Gail & Rob Ault presented us with the opportunity to breed (Shiloh) to our (Jack). This breeding produced our first Bred by Exhibitor Champion Graysong’s Dancing Isadora, JH (Izzy), CH. Graysong’s Serenade of Shiloh, JH (Sara), CH. Graysong's Rhapsody of Shiloh (Katy), CH. Graysong's Pied Piper Of Shiloh (Piper), & CH. Graysong's Elijah Of Shiloh (Ely), as well as four other Pointed & Major Pointed puppies on their way to their Bench Championships. With just ten puppies born, this amazing combination earned Shiloh her BROM(Breed Register Of Merit) and made Jack the Sire of six Champions and four Junior Hunters. It also earned Jack a spot on 2008's Top Producing Sires list !!!
We give our most sincere Thank You to Gail & Rob who recognized (Jack’s) potential as a Sire & entrusted us with the care of their lovely bitch (Shiloh). The Dream & Legacy of Graysong has been made possible through their support, encouragement and belief in us. (Jack & Shiloh) are the foundation of Graysong Weimaraners.
