Our Story

We are Todd & Julia Schulz and we love and respect this magnificent Breed.  Julia grew up training, showing & breeding fine Appaloosa show horses always with a Weimaraner by her side.  Our Kennel name Graysong Weimaraners came to be from Julia’s memory of sitting in a silo, guitar in hand writing music with her beloved Weim (Blitz) singing beside her “in Harmony”!

Todd & Julia met later in life and shared a love for all creatures great & small.  Todd was an avid hunter & fisherman always with his dog by his side.  Julia also loved hunting, fishing & trap shooting .  It was a match made in heaven!  When we purchased our 1st dog together, Todd insisted on a hunting breed so naturally it had to be a Weimaraner!  Heidi, was to be our companion & Todd’s personal gun dog.  Julia decided it might be fun to get “Back in the ring” and after her first show, Julia was hooked!  Now it was time to start our pursuit for the “Perfect” show dog.  ☺

After a year of research & studying, Julia eyed a young stud dog she thought had “Great potential”.  He was CH Nani’s Indecent Exposure (Streak) who was to become a National Specialty Winner, Top 10 Show Dog & Top Producing Sire. Todd trusted Julia’s “Eye for a dog” since she always possessed the gift with her horses.  We contacted Chris Grissel (Nani’s Weimaraners)  about any up coming litters sired by him.  Chris was very excited about Steak's repeat breeding  to CH Nani’s Jagmar Sweet Dividends (Diva) who had multiple Agility, Hunt, & Obedience titles and who was to become 2005’s Top Producing Dam.

Chris invited Julia to meet with her and Terrie Borman in Dekalb, Illinois where Sage & Bounder, (pup's from Streak's & Diva's 1st litter), were making their show debuts at 6 months of age.  CH Nani’s Tsurutani Honor Bound (Bounder) was to become a Top 10 Show Dog and Best of Opposite Sex Winner at the 2006 National Specialty & Sage would also become a multi titled Champion.  Julia was so impressed, that she brought Jack, (a puppy from the repeat breeding) home 8 weeks later.  He was to be our 1st Champion Nani’s Graysong Jackpot.  We will forever be indebted to Chris & Terrie for the opportunity to own and love our beautiful Jack.  We thank them both for all of their support and guidance.

We purchased Shilohs Graysong Whirlwind (Grace) from Gail Ault (Shiloh Weimaraners).  Grace is a daughter of CH Silhouette’s Wise Guy out of CH Smoky City Expectation (Shiloh); They went Best Dog & Best Bitch at the 2001 Central Futurity.

Our new found Friendship with Shiloh’s owners Gail & Rob Ault presented us with the opportunity to breed  Shiloh to our Jack.  This breeding produced our 1st Bred by Exhibitor Champion Graysong’s Dancing Isadora, JH (Izzy) and the next litter produced our Champion Graysong’s Serenade of Shiloh, JH (Sara), as well as 5 other pointed & major pointed puppies on their way to their Bench Championships.  Our (Katy), CH Graysong's Rhapsody of Shiloh, was Shiloh's & Jack's Last puppy, born to a singleton litter.  This amazing combination earned Shiloh her BROM with just 10 puppies born. It also made Jack the Sire of 5 Champions, 3 Junior hunters and 1 futurity placer all before the age of four!

We give our most sincere Thank You to Gail & Rob who recognized Jack’s potential as a Sire & entrusted us with the care of their lovely bitch (Shiloh).  The Dream & Legacy of Graysong has been made possible through their support, encouragement and belief in us.  Jack & Shiloh are Graysong’s foundation stock.
